Investiture Ceremony of the Captains Regent

A ceremony of ancient memory that celebrates the settlement, for six months, of the Captains Regent,
Heads of State of the Republic of San Marino.
It is possible to take part in the suggestive historical protocol that sees the protagonists parading in period costume through the streets of the Historical Center.
The day starts at 9.45 am
with the deployment of the Military Corps and the flag-raising in Piazza della Libertà.
At 10.40 am the procession of the elected Captains Regents will go to the Basilica del Santo
for the celebration of the religious rite.
The parade then returns to Palazzo Pubblico at 11.30 for the official Oration.
This is the highlight of the ceremony,
Seeing the Captains Regents take an oath and receive the Investiture.
At 12.30 the procession heads to Palazzo Valloni and returns to Piazza della Libertà for the flag ammaina.
