Investiture Ceremony of the Captains Regent 01/04/2017 - Old Town - City of San Marino

A ceremony celebrating the memory of ancient settlement, for six months, of the Captains Regent, the Heads of State of the Republic of San Marino. And it's possible to take part in the charming old protocol that sees the protagonists parade in period costume through the streets of Old Town. The day starts at 9.45 am with the deployment of Military Corps and the flag-raising ceremony in Freedom Square. At 10.40 am Procession of the elected Captains Regent he went to the Basilica del Santo for the celebration of a religious rite. The procession then returns to the Government Building at 11.30 am for the official prayer. This is the highlight of the ceremony, which sees the Captains Regent oath and receive the investiture. At 12:30, the procession heads to Palazzo Valloni and returns to Liberty Square to the lowering of the flag.
