We visited San Marino as a variation on Italy--we had a room with an exceptional view of the two of the three towers on one side, and the valley on the other. Room 305 had large windows and wood beam ceiling. A storm had knocked out the wifi, so we had to use up our data on the cellphone. Service was excellent; easy English. Breakfast was okay. However, restaurant for 2 dinners was excellent (not much else was open on the mountain as things were closing up). First night we did the fixed menu for 2 with linguini, and then different meats on skewer for main course; limoncello to top off the dinner and a dessert of vanilla pudding and raspberry fruit sauce. Next night we waited by the fireplace and sampled wines from the bar. Dinner included sauteed chard and roasted potatoes, pasta stuffed with cheese and fish in basil; ravioli carbonara, with a San Marino Sangiovese. Service was good and we were not unhappy with the lack of multiple choices for dinner restaurants (this was due to being at the edge of the season). Used taxis from Rimini to and from San Marino. Excellent location to get to and from towers -- and touristy shopping.
